Nigerian troops have neutralized a suspect believed to belong to an armed group during a counter-terrorism operation in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Soldiers from Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma, deployed near Galadi, intercepted a group of suspected militants on motorcycles as they attempted to cross a road in the area.
Troops opened fire, killing one of the suspects while others fled into nearby bushland.
Upon inspecting the body, soldiers discovered the suspect was wearing military woodland camouflage under a traditional kaftan.
A search of his mobile phone revealed photographs showing him clad in a camouflage vest and brandishing a PKT machine gun.
Troops recovered four mobile phones and ₦30,350 in cash from the scene.
Operation Fansan Yamma remains ongoing across North-West Nigeria as security forces target armed groups and bandit networks operating along border corridors.
