Troops Dismantle Terrorist Enclaves, Recover RPG Launcher in Katsina

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, working alongside partner security forces, have dismantled multiple terrorist hideouts and seized heavy weaponry in the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The coordinated ground offensive, supported by synchronized air strikes, targeted key insurgent enclaves in the Maharba and Karaduwa general areas.

Hideouts Destroyed and Weapons Seized

The operation dislodged terrorist groups operating across Matazu and neighbouring Musawa Local Government Areas:

  • Infrastructural Destruction: Security forces destroyed logistics hubs, life-support structures, and temporary shelters to prevent insurgents from reoccupying the area.
  • Targeting High-Value Leader: Troops raided the camp of a prominent terrorist leader, identified as Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, who fled the scene under intense pressure from the advancing forces.
  • Arsenal Recovered: A search of the abandoned hideout yielded an RPG-7 launcher, operational motorcycles, mobile communication devices, and various logistical supplies.
  • Zero Friendly Casualties: Military commanders confirmed that no casualties were sustained by security personnel during the engagement.

Following the clearance operation, troops initiated dominance patrols along critical transit routes to secure the corridor and deny criminal networks freedom of action across the North-West region.
