The Democratic Front (TDF) has welcomed a letter of commendation from US President Donald Trump praising President Bola Tinubu’s leadership in combating terrorism in Nigeria.
In a statement issued by Chairman Danjuma Muhammad and Secretary Wale Adedayo, the pro-government group described Trump’s message as official recognition of the administration’s efforts to secure the nation.
The group argued that the praise marks a shift away from earlier diplomatic tensions, following previous threats of military action by Washington. TDF attributed the earlier friction to “disinformation” spread by opposition figures aimed at straining US-Nigeria relations.
Highlighting recent defence cooperation between both nations—which includes joint operations and precision strikes against insurgent camps along Nigeria’s borders—the group credited Tinubu’s diplomatic engagement with strengthening intelligence sharing and security ties.
TDF added that Trump’s commendation undermines opposition attempts to weaponize security concerns ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging citizens to support the administration’s ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
