The Tinubu Stakeholders Forum (TSF) has dismissed claims by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) that President Bola Tinubu makes “fake promises” to national athletes, describing the allegations as politically motivated.
In a statement signed by Chairman Ahmad Sajoh and Secretary Danjuma Sada, the group maintained that official records show consistent delivery on presidential commitments to national sports teams.
TSF highlighted fulfilled pledges, including the distribution of land titles, housing allocations, and national honours to members of the Super Eagles following the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, alongside similar distributions to the national female basketball team, D’Tigress.
“A government that has already begun delivering on its commitments to Nigerian athletes cannot honestly be accused of making only ‘fake promises,'” the statement read, adding that processing for cash rewards awarded to the Super Falcons after their 2025 WAFCON victory remains underway.
The group urged government agencies to finalize any outstanding payouts promptly while asserting that the current administration’s track record compares favourably to previous governments that left athlete rewards unfulfilled for decades.
