Lagos, Nigeria – The family of Ruth Otabor, the sister of Big Brother Naija reality TV show winner Ijeoma “Phyna” Josephina Otabor, has announced her death. The family confirmed in a statement on Sunday that Ms. Otabor passed away at approximately 6:30 a.m. on August 31, 2025.
Ruth Otabor’s death comes just weeks after she was involved in a severe traffic accident that led to the amputation of her leg. The incident occurred on August 13, 2025, when she was hit by a truck in Edo State, shortly after her graduation from Auchi Polytechnic.
The family has requested privacy to mourn her passing and stated that funeral arrangements will be communicated to the public in due course. The sudden death has left her family and fans in mourning.
