Global music icon and philanthropist Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.
Her death was announced on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, by her nephew, Bryan Seaver. Addressing fans in a video statement, Seaver described the moment as an honor mixed with absolute pride and great sadness, noting that the late star had “lived in the light” and opened doors for generations of musicians.
From Rural Poverty to Global Stardom
Born into extreme poverty in a two-room log cabin in East Tennessee on 19 January 1946, Parton was the fourth of 12 children. She began performing on local radio and television as a child before moving to Nashville immediately after graduating from high school in 1964.
Her rise to fame accelerated after joining The Porter Wagoner Show in 1967. When she departed the show to pursue a solo career, she penned the legendary track “I Will Always Love You”—a song that later became an international blockbuster hit for Whitney Houston.

Over a career spanning more than six decades, Parton transformed into one of the most celebrated figures in entertainment history:
