Makurdi, Nigeria – Nigeria’s Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has called on newly graduated officers from the Regimental Intelligence and Security Officers Course 4/2025 to “bring clarity to uncertainty, foresight to decision making, and resilience to operations.” The charge comes as the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) continues to reposition itself to counter evolving national security threats.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony at the Nigerian Air Force School of Air Intelligence in Makurdi on July 11, 2025, Air Marshal Abubakar described the course’s successful completion as a “major milestone” in the NAF’s human capacity development efforts. He emphasized that the changing nature of modern threats, particularly from non-state actors, criminal networks, and internal saboteurs, necessitates intelligence-led operations and proactive responses. “These evolving challenges have necessitated a shift in how the Nigerian Air Force anticipates, prepares and responds to emerging threats,” he stated.

The course provided training in intelligence collection, analysis, dissemination, and counterintelligence. Participants were drawn from various NAF branches to promote service-wide integration of intelligence principles and to close intelligence gaps across operational theatres and air bases. Air Marshal Abubakar commended the school’s commandant, instructors, and staff for their professionalism and thanked President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support to the Service. He assured that the NAF would continue to strengthen its capabilities to fulfil its constitutional mandate, marking another strategic step in bolstering its intelligence capabilities.
