Lagos, Nigeria – Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday conferred the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) upon American billionaire philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates.
The award ceremony took place in Lagos and was confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to a statement from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Mr. Gates is currently in Nigeria for meetings with President Tinubu. Discussions are expected to focus on initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s primary healthcare system.
