Ibadan, Nigeria – An unidentified man has reportedly fallen from one of the upper floors of the 26-storey Cocoa House building in Ibadan, Oyo State, an incident that caused panic in the city’s business district.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday. Eyewitnesses described the terrifying scene, with one individual initially mistaking the falling figure for a large bird before realising it was a human. Another witness reported seeing the victim hit a roof near the building’s security post before landing on the ground.
As of Tuesday, the circumstances surrounding the fall remained unclear, with investigations ongoing.
Odu’a Investment Company Limited, the firm managing Cocoa House, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Tuesday from Ibadan. Victor Ayetoro, the Head of Branding and Communication for the company, stated that “the individual involved was swiftly attended to by the emergency response team and taken to the University College Hospital, Ibadan, for urgent medical attention.” The company expressed its concern and assured the public of its full cooperation with authorities investigating the cause of the fall.
