APC to El-Rufai: “Quit Sulking, Get a Grip”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a scathing response to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, accusing him of being a “self-interested politician” driven by “ego” and “vengeful desire.”

In a press statement, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka dismissed El-Rufai’s claims that the party had deviated from its founding principles as a “smokescreen” to mask his personal grievance over a failed ministerial bid.

“El-Rufai appears traumatized by his failure to land a ministerial position. Nursing a bruised ego, he now lashes out at the platform on which he rode to political prominence,” Morka stated.

El-Rufai, in a BBC Hausa interview, had alleged that the APC had become a party where “everyone is now pursuing personal interests.” The APC countered this, asserting that its commitment to its founding values remains “valid and progressive.”

“El-Rufai’s allegation of a drift from our Party’s founding values exists only in his foggy imagination,” Morka said. He questioned El-Rufai’s move to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), asking, “exactly how is the Social Democratic Party (SDP), El-Rufai’s new political abode, an ideological safe haven?”

The APC also rejected El-Rufai’s claims that President Bola Tinubu had failed, citing “tangible progress” across various sectors. They highlighted the removal of fuel subsidies, unification of exchange rates, increased foreign investment, and growth in GDP.

“Nigerians are in no doubt about President Tinubu’s uncompromising commitment to economic reform, good governance, and improving the welfare of Nigerians,” Morka stated.

The APC called on El-Rufai to “quit sulking, get a grip and salvage some respectability,” urging him to offer constructive criticism rather than “scurrilous propaganda and deliberate misinformation.”
