The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Abdullahi, has called for a deliberate and sustainable strategy to build digital infrastructure in Jigawa State to drive long-term economic growth.
Speaking at the Galaxy ITT Repositioning Retreat—themed “From Strategic Intent to a Phased, Bankable and Accountable Digital Infrastructural Platform for Jigawa State”—Inuwa stressed that technological progress must be guided by clear policy direction rather than chance.
Building a Sustainable Digital Economy
The NITDA chief urged state stakeholders to construct a long-term roadmap that positions Jigawa beyond reliance on federal allocations:
- Repositioning Galaxy ITT: He called for the state’s technology arm, Galaxy ITT, to be restructured as a core driver of digital transformation, focusing on public trust, workforce development, and public-private sector collaboration.
- Core Pillars for Growth: Inuwa highlighted enabling regulatory frameworks, cybersecurity, digital skills training, emerging technologies, and innovation ecosystems as fundamental components of a viable digital economy.
- Youth Empowerment and Job Creation: He encouraged state leaders to maximize existing tech facilities and support young entrepreneurs in turning ideas into marketable products and tech-driven businesses.
Inuwa emphasized that Jigawa’s digital strategy must be designed to outlast individual political administrations, securing lasting economic diversification and prosperity for the state.
