Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued two abducted civilians following targeted security operations across Plateau State.
Military officials confirmed the rescues took place during tactical search and patrol operations carried out in the Bassa and Kanam Local Government Areas.
Details of the Rescues
The Joint Task Force reported separate operations that led to the safe recovery of both victims:
- Bassa Local Government Area: Responding to credible intelligence regarding the abduction of Ndubuisi Onuigbo, troops from Sector 3 launched a targeted search and rescue operation, successfully locating and freeing him.
- Kanam Local Government Area: Early on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, Sector 2 troops on fighting patrol near Kukawa Village encountered an armed group. Following an aggressive pursuit by security forces, the assailants fled into nearby terrain, abandoning a kidnapped victim, Mallam Sambo Abdullahi.
- Status of Victims: Both individuals have undergone debriefing by security officials and have been reunited with their families.

Military Response
The Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the personnel for their swift action and tactical posture in disrupting criminal networks across the state.
Dangana appealed to local residents for continued cooperation and timely intelligence sharing to support ongoing efforts to restore lasting security across the region.
