The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the conduct of primaries for the nomination of candidates by political parties for the Anambra State governorship election will commence on March 20, 2025, and end on April 10, 2025.
In a statement on Thursday, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun revealed that 12 out of the 19 registered political parties in the country have submitted their detailed schedules of primaries. The Commission urged the remaining seven parties to submit their schedules promptly.
INEC also reminded political parties to adhere strictly to their proposed schedules, warning that sudden changes could disrupt the Commission’s workflow and add to the cost of monitoring primaries.
The Anambra State governorship election is scheduled to take place on November 8, 2025.
