The Borno State Police Command successfully repelled a Boko Haram attack on the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Malari village, Konduga Local Government Area, on Wednesday. According to ASP Nahum Daso, the state police spokesperson, the attack occurred around 1 am when Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents launched an assault on the FOB.
The police crack team swiftly responded, forcing the terrorists to retreat into the bush with bullet injuries. During a subsequent assessment of the scene, police discovered a planted explosive device inside an abandoned Toyota Hilux used by local vigilantes. Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) experts were deployed to the area, successfully defusing the explosive.
ASP Daso commended the efforts of the crack team and the EOD-CBRN Base 13 Maiduguri for their swift response and professionalism. He reassured residents of the police command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of returnees to their ancestral homes, urging communities to remain calm and vigilant.
