A political advocacy group has welcomed JPMorgan’s decision to broaden its operations in Nigeria, describing the move as a major vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies.
The Democratic Front (TDF) stated that the expansion by the United States-based financial institution signals growing international approval of Nigeria’s macroeconomic direction and efforts to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
In a statement signed by Chairman Danjuma Muhammad and Secretary Wale Adedayo, the group argued that major global banks evaluate macroeconomic stability, regulatory predictability, and exchange-rate risks before committing capital.
“We welcome and celebrate it as an investment breakthrough because it validates President Bola Tinubu’s business-friendly economic reforms and policies,” the group said, adding that the move serves as a stamp of credibility for the national economy.
TDF expressed confidence that JPMorgan’s presence will encourage other international investors to enter the Nigerian market, boost foreign exchange liquidity, stabilize exchange rates, and facilitate international trade.
The advocacy group further noted that the entry of a major global merchant bank is expected to improve domestic banking standards, generate high-paying professional jobs, expand access to credit, and introduce advanced financial technologies to the local ecosystem.
