Electricity consumers in parts of Delta State will experience brief power interruptions on Wednesday and Thursday as engineers conduct scheduled maintenance at the Effurun transmission substation.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced that maintenance teams will perform annual preventive servicing at the 132/33kV facility between 10:00 and 15:00 WAT on 28 and 29 October 2026.

The upgrade is required to allow engineering contractors to safely commission a specialized fire protection system on a 100MVA power transformer at the station.

As a result, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will briefly suspend power along several 33kV feeder lines—including Refinery 1 & 2, Effurun, PSLM, and Warri—for approximately 20 minutes daily to facilitate switching operations.

“TCN apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause electricity customers within the affected areas,” the grid operator said in a statement released on Tuesday.
