Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have killed several terrorists and recovered arms during an operation in the Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Military officials stated that the engagement was triggered by credible intelligence revealing that an armed gang was attempting to move rustled livestock through the Maikujera general area.
Ambush Broken and Gear Recovered
Responding to the report, mobile units deployed to intercept the group, overcoming an attempted ambush along their axis of advance:
- Tactical Breakthrough: Upon encountering an ambush along the route, troops responded with superior firepower, breaking through the assault and killing several terrorists, while others fled into the surrounding bush.
- Seizures: During follow-up search operations, soldiers recovered AK-47 assault rifles, operational motorcycles, and the stolen livestock.
- Area Secured: The military confirmed that security across the Rabah and Maikujera sectors remains calm and stable, with intensified routine patrols underway to prevent further incursions.
With rustled livestock successfully recovered, the operation offers temporary relief to local farming communities whose livelihoods remain constantly targeted by armed gangs.
