Nigeria and Kenya have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral trade, regional security, and economic cooperation following the formal presentation of credentials by Nigeria’s new High Commissioner to Kenya.
High Commissioner Danlami Ibrahim presented his Letters of Credence to Kenyan President Dr. William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, on 8 September 2026.
Conveying fraternal greetings from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr. Ibrahim emphasized Nigeria’s readiness to expand strategic partnerships and convert long-standing diplomatic ties into tangible economic benefits for both nations.
In a statement released on Friday, 18 September, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Oluwafemi Adeniyi highlighted several priority sectors earmarked for enhanced bilateral engagement, including:
- Economic & Sectoral Growth: Agriculture, energy, financial services, creative industries, and the blue economy.
- Security & Defence: Counter-terrorism collaboration and joint intelligence sharing to bolster continental stability.
- Multilateral Engagement: Unified positions within regional bodies to advance African economic integration, democratic governance, and sustainable development.
As key economic hubs in West and East Africa respectively, Nigeria and Kenya reaffirmed their shared commitment to driving peace, security, and institutional reform across the African continent.
