Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have thwarted a ransom exchange and rescued an abducted woman following a tactical operation in Kebbi State.
Military sources confirmed that the operation took place on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, after intelligence revealed plans by an armed gang to collect a ransom payment for a woman abducted from her farm the previous month.
Intercepted Exchange and Rescue
Acting on the local intelligence, counter-terrorism forces deployed to intercept the transaction.
- Armed Encounter: As security forces closed in on the location, the armed group attempted to engage the advancing troops but was quickly forced to retreat under superior firepower.
- Safe Recovery: The abductors abandoned the hostage during their retreat. Troops secured the woman unharmed and evacuated her safely from the scene.
- Family Reunion: The rescued victim has since been reunited with her family in the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Following the rescue, military units conducted clearance and dominance patrols across the Danko-Wasagu and Ngaski Local Government Areas to secure the area and deny criminal groups freedom of movement across the North-West region.
