The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced planned maintenance work on its 40MVA 132/33kV Transformer TR1 at the Akwanga Transmission Substation.
In a press statement issued by the management on Friday, 7 August 2026, the company stated that the maintenance exercise commenced at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and is scheduled to be completed by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, 8 August 2026.
According to the statement, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be temporarily unable to receive bulk power supply from the affected transformer during the maintenance window. Consequently, electricity consumers in Akwanga, Nasarawa and its environs, Water Board, and surrounding areas will experience a temporary outage.
TCN apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience, explaining that the routine exercise is necessary to improve system reliability and ensure enhanced bulk power distribution across the region upon completion.
