In a daring operation, police operatives attached to the Imo State Command have rescued four kidnapped hostages and recovered an AK-47 rifle, magazine, and ammunition. The operation was carried out on Saturday, January 4, 2025, after the operatives received a distress call reporting the abduction of four persons in Umuokanne, Ohaji LGA, Imo State.
According to Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, the police operatives swiftly located the criminal hideout and engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun duel, neutralizing two of them. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to combating heinous crimes and ensuring public safety.

In another development, police operatives attached to the Ebonyi State Command have arrested 17 suspects in connection with the murder of Uromchi Okorocha, who was accused of being involved in killings through alleged witchcraft and spiritual means. The IGP has condemned the act of jungle justice, urging citizens to report suspected criminal activities to the nearest police division or formation.
