Cubans March Against US Blockade, Terrorism Listing

Thousands of Cubans gathered in front of the United States Embassy in Havana on December 20 to denounce the US blockade and Cuba’s inclusion on the list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism. The march, led by President Miguel Díaz Canel Bermúdez and Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, was a show of unity against the unjust measures imposed by the US government for over 62 years.

The Havana seafront, a historic site of Cuban struggles, was filled with people demanding an end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade. The march was a response to the US government’s actions, which have caused significant hardship for the Cuban people.

In a speech during the march, President Díaz Canel emphasized that Cubans do not harbour hatred towards the American people but rather seek a respectful and equal relationship with the US government. However, he warned that if the US continues to undermine Cuba’s sovereignty and independence, it will be met with rebellion and resistance.

The march came after the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution for the 32nd time, calling on the US to end the blockade against Cuba. The resolution was supported by 187 countries, including Nigeria, demonstrating the international community’s solidarity with the Cuban people
