A leaked voice note from Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has sparked controversy, alleging that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) demanded N10 million to secure a federal government pardon for money laundering charges. Bobrisky claimed to have paid N5 million upfront, with his godfather covering the initial payment.
In the recording, posted by social media influencer Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan), Bobrisky revealed:
- His godfather arranged a well-furnished apartment near the prison, instead of incarceration.
- The Nigerian Correctional Service’s Deputy Controller facilitated the living arrangement.
- The goal was to secure a pardon to expedite his release by July.
Bobrisky’s allegations follow previous claims of:
- EFCC operatives demanding and receiving N15 million to drop charges.
- Human rights lawyer Femi Falana seeking a presidential pardon for N10 million.
These revelations have raised concerns about corruption, bribery, and favouritism within Nigeria’s justice system. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Nigerian Correctional Service have faced scrutiny over alleged complicity.
