Power outages in Edo State as Okpella substation undergoes maintenance

Engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) are carrying out scheduled servicing on a 60-megavolt-ampere transformer and connected switchgear at the Okpella facility in Edo State.

The work, scheduled between 11:00 and 16:00 local time (10:00 to 15:00 GMT), has temporarily cut supply to local distributor Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

Affected areas include Okpella town and nearby industrial facilities, including local cement plants.

TCN said in a statement that the work was routine maintenance aimed at ensuring grid reliability, and apologised to residents and businesses for the interruption.

Electricity supply is expected to be restored shortly after 16:00 local time once engineers complete the safety checks and reconnect the transformer to the regional network.
