Planned maintenance to cause temporary power cuts in parts of Abuja region

Residents in parts of Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, and surrounding districts face temporary power outages on Thursday due to scheduled maintenance on key electricity infrastructure.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced that engineers will carry out routine maintenance on switchgear and control equipment at the Katampe 1 substation between 10:00 and 16:00 local time (09:00 to 15:00 GMT).The six-hour work on the Katampe–Gwarimpa line will temporarily disrupt bulk power delivery to the regional distributor, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

Affected areas include densely populated districts and suburbs across northern Abuja and nearby Niger State, including Kubwa, Dutse, Bwari, Suleja, and Zuba.TCN expressed regret for the disruption, describing the exercise as part of its annual preventive maintenance program to ensure grid stability.
