Nigeria’s state electricity firm, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has restored a major transmission line serving central parts of the country three weeks after severe weather knocked down power towers in the region.
Reconstruction work on three 132kV transmission towers—designated T78, T79, and T80—was completed on Wednesday afternoon, fully re-establishing the Karu–Keffi–Akwanga line.
The infrastructure collapsed on 7 October following heavy rainfall and high winds. The outage affected supply to key distribution stations in Keffi and Akwanga, located in Nasarawa State, just east of the country’s capital, Abuja.
In a statement, TCN management said engineering crews had worked to rebuild the damaged structures and strengthen the grid pathway, reiterating its commitment to improving the reliability of Nigeria’s national power network.
