A 37-year-old Nigerian woman who went missing after landing in Doha, Qatar, has been located safely in a hospital, her family has confirmed.
The woman had travelled from Lagos aboard a Qatar Airways flight on Tuesday but lost contact with her family shortly after arrival, sparking widespread concern and online appeals.
Her brother, Jonathan Jibo, confirmed in a social media update on Sunday that his sister fell ill at the airport and was taken directly to a medical facility for treatment.
“Good news… My sister has been found today; she was sick and was taken to the hospital from the airport,” Jibo wrote.
Embassy intervention and relief
Before she was located, Africa Eye News contacted the Nigerian Ambassador to Qatar, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who confirmed that the embassy’s attention had been drawn to the situation and that diplomats were actively investigating her whereabouts.
The successful location of the woman in stable condition comes as a major relief to both the embassy officials who were pursuing the case and her family in Nigeria.
The resolution follows a coordinated push involving aviation authorities and social media appeals.
Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), had earlier verified through airport CCTV footage that the passenger had retrieved her luggage and exited the terminal safely before being taken ill.
The woman’s family expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Embassy in Doha, Qatar Airways, the NCAA, and members of the public who assisted in amplifying the search.
