Adeleke Re-Elected Osun Governor After Securing Majority Vote

Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke has secured a second term in office after winning Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, according to official results announced by election officials in Osogbo.

The State Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, declared Adeleke the winner early Sunday morning following the completion of vote collation across the state.

Breakdown of Results

Adeleke, who contested under the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to defeat his primary challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 444,815 votes. Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished third with 17,180 votes.

Key figures from the official election audit include:

  • Total Accredited Voters: 1,010,684
  • Total Valid Votes: 985,079
  • Rejected Ballots: 207
  • Total Cast Ballots: 1,005,800

Local Government Spread

The election outcome showed a clear geographical split across the state’s 30 local government areas (LGAs):

  • Accord Party (19 LGAs): Adeleke secured victory across major population centres, including Ede North, Ede South, Osogbo, Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, Ejigbo, Iwo, Egbedore, Oriade, Ifelodun, Orolu, Ayedaade, Ayedire, Odo Otin, Boluwaduro, Ilesa West, and Ifedayo.
  • All Progressives Congress (11 LGAs): Oyebamiji won in Irewole, Isokan, Olorunda, Atakumosa East, Atakumosa West, Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun, and Obokun.

Following the formal review and signing of the certified result sheet by participating political party agents, Prof. Ogunwole officially declared Adeleke the duly elected governor of Osun State.
