Science students from Government Girls Secondary School, Dukawuya, Kano, paid an educational visit to the Kumbotso 330/132kV Transmission Substation on Tuesday, 4 August 2026.
The excursion, organized by the Kano Sub-Region of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), was aimed at giving the students practical exposure to electricity transmission and bridging the gap between classroom theory and industrial application.
During the guided tour, TCN engineers took the students through the step-by-step process of transmitting electricity. The engineers demonstrated the functions of critical substation equipment, explained control room operations, and highlighted the strict safety protocols maintained across the national grid network.
The visit featured an interactive session where the students engaged directly with the engineering team, asking questions and gaining first-hand insights into everyday power system operations.
Organizers noted that the initiative helped deepen the students’ understanding of Nigeria’s power infrastructure while encouraging interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers.
TCN stated that hosting such educational visits forms part of its commitment to technical knowledge sharing, industry-academia collaboration, and building a skilled workforce to sustain the future of Nigeria’s power sector.
