London, England
Arsenal maintained their 100% record in the Champions League after securing a convincing 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich, with new signing Noni Madueke scoring his first goal for the Gunners.
The result hands the German side their first defeat of the season and strengthens Arsenal’s position at the top of their group.
Goals
Arsenal established dominance early and took the lead in the 22nd minute when defender Jurrien Timber headed home a corner delivered by Bukayo Saka. This marked Arsenal’s 10th goal from a corner this season—the highest tally across Europe’s top five leagues.
Bayern quickly responded, scoring the first goal Arsenal have conceded in the competition this season. A cross-field pass from Joshua Kimmich found former Arsenal forward Serge Gnabry, who squared the ball for 17-year-old Lennart Karl to finish from close range 10 minutes later.
Madueke and Eze Seal the Win
The second half belonged to the London side, thanks to decisive contributions from their English wingers:
- Madueke’s Milestone: England winger Madueke put Arsenal back in front, netting his debut goal for the club. Substitute Riccardo Calafiori fired a powerful cross into the area, which Madueke managed to direct into the net.
- Eze’s Assistance: The victory was wrapped up late on when Eberechi Eze, fresh from his heroics in the weekend’s North London derby, clipped a pass over the defence. Gabriel Martinelli successfully knocked the ball around the stranded Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to seal the 3-1 win.
The result means Arsenal have secured five wins from five games in the competition, confirming their status as one of the standout teams of the group stage.
