Nigerian Defence Minister Commends Namibian Military College, Reaffirms Pan-African Cooperation

ABUJA, NIGERIA — Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Abubakar, has praised the Namibian Command and Staff College for its commitment to strengthening defence and education cooperation across Africa.

The Minister made the remarks while receiving a 26-member delegation from the Namibian institution, led by Brigadier Benhard Erastus, during a study tour to Nigeria. Mr. Badaru, represented by Mrs. Bosede Olaniyi, Director of the Joint Service Department, reaffirmed Nigeria’s readiness to share experiences and build stronger partnerships with Namibia and other African nations.

He recalled the long-standing historical ties between the two countries and highlighted Nigeria’s active role during Africa’s liberation struggles. The Minister stressed the importance of African unity, saying that “togetherness is essential to prevent external forces intent on dividing the continent.”

Namibian Delegation Visits Nigeria
Brigadier Erastus thanked the Nigerian government for the warm reception and the opportunity to gain insights into Nigeria’s defence policy, civil-military relations, and regional security operations. He explained that the delegation chose Nigeria for the study tour due to its regional leadership and to learn more about the link between defence and security studies and sustainable economic development.

The visit included a presentation on the Ministry of Defence’s structure, followed by a general discussion. As a token of appreciation, the Namibian delegation presented a plaque to the Ministry of Defence.
