TCN announces two-day power outages in Ogun State for substation maintenance

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that parts of Ogun State will experience temporary power outages on Thursday and Friday, 8 and 9 October 2026, to allow engineers to carry out annual preventive maintenance at the Ijebu-Ode Transmission Substation.

The routine servicing will affect two 30MVA, 132/33kV power transformers between 10:00 and 17:00 each day.

To minimize broader disruption, maintenance work will be staggered across the two days:

  • Thursday, 8 October: Servicing of the T1 30MVA transformer will temporarily halt bulk power supply to Ijebu-Ode and Idowa.
  • Friday, 9 October: Servicing of the T2 30MVA transformer will disrupt supply to Ijebu-Igbo and the Barracks area.

As a result, the regional distributor, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), will be unable to off-take power from the affected transformers during the maintenance windows.

TCN management stated that bulk power supply will be restored immediately to each transformer upon completion of the daily servicing, apologizing to consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience caused by the exercise.
