Parts of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, will experience a temporary power outage on Tuesday while engineers carry out maintenance work on key electrical infrastructure.
The state-owned Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced that engineers need to replace a faulty line circuit breaker at the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
The work is scheduled to take place between 10:00 and 16:00 local time (09:00 to 15:00 GMT) on Tuesday, 22 September.As a result, the local power distributor, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), will temporarily be unable to supply electricity to several major neighborhoods and commercial zones.
The affected areas include:Idu Railway Station, Idu Industrial Zone, CITEC EstateParts of Life Camp and properties served by the Wuye 1 and 2 injection substations.
In a statement released on Monday, TCN apologised to affected residents and businesses for the interruption to their electricity supply.
