Nigerian President Bola Tinubu Begins Three-Week Leave in Europe Ahead of 2027 Campaign

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu will leave the capital, Abuja, on Sunday to begin a three-week annual vacation in Europe, with London as his first stop.

In an official statement released on Sunday, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga confirmed the West African leader’s departure, noting that the trip forms part of his scheduled annual leave.

The presidency indicated that President Tinubu is expected to resume duties in Nigeria immediately following his break to join what officials described as an intense campaign period ahead of the country’s upcoming general election in January 2027.

The Nigerian leader’s holiday comes at a time when the presidential campaign has officially kicked off across Africa’s most populous nation, with political parties and contenders rapidly stepping up preparations and early rallies ahead of the polls.

The statement did not provide further details regarding the president’s itinerary or specific stops beyond London during his time in Europe.
