Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, has approved the appointment of two media aides to oversee the ministry’s public communications and digital diplomacy.
The new appointees are Richard Elesho, who assumes the role of Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications, and Raphael Oni, appointed as Special Assistant on Digital and Public Diplomacy.
Elesho previously served as Chief Press Secretary to two former governors of Kogi State, Ibrahim Idris and Idris Wada, and was most recently the North Central Bureau Chief for The News/PM News.
Oni, a former Secretary General of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Nigeria (DICAN), brings over 15 years of experience in diplomatic reporting and publishing and holds a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Abuja.
In a statement announcing the appointments, Ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa stated that the team would support the effective communication of the government’s diplomatic mandate and strategic priorities.
