Heirs Life Assurance, the specialist life insurance arm of Heirs Insurance Group, has appointed Pastor Jerry Eze as an Independent Non-Executive Director on its board, effective Monday, 10 August 2026.
Eze, the founder and lead pastor of Streams of Joy International Ministry and convener of the digital prayer platform New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declaration (NSPPD), joins the firm as part of a push to expand financial inclusion and increase insurance adoption across Nigeria.
Insurance penetration in Nigeria currently remains below one percent, among the lowest globally despite the country’s economic size. The company stated that Eze’s background in community engagement and public advocacy would support its strategy to build consumer trust and broaden public education around financial resilience.
Prior to entering full-time ministry, Eze worked as a communications specialist on World Bank and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) programmes. He holds degrees from Abia State University and the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, and leads philanthropy initiatives through the Jerry Eze Foundation.
Welcoming the appointment, Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Life Assurance, said Eze’s influence and understanding of local communities would help advance the firm’s mission to democratize access to life insurance.
Eze stated he was honored to join the board, emphasizing that improving financial security empowers individuals and families to build greater economic resilience.
