Kogi students launch support group for Tinubu, Ododo

LOKOJA — A high-powered delegation of student leaders in Kogi State has formally launched a grassroots movement to back the administrations of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. The “Kogi State NANS Support Group for President Tinubu and Governor Ododo” was unveiled on Thursday during a meeting at the Government House in Lokoja. The move signals a tightening of the bond between the state government and the student community, following a series of recent educational reforms and welfare improvements.

Tangible Impact’

Student representatives from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) cited several key milestones as the catalyst for the new group, including:

Financial Support: The timely release of increased bursary payments and new international scholarships.

Institutional Funding: The provision of monthly subventions to various student bodies.

Logistics: The recent donation of a brand-new bus to the NANS National Body to facilitate student mobility.

Oladele Nihi, Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Youth and Student Matters, received the delegation alongside Emmanuel Ojoduene, the Senior Special Assistant on Student Affairs.

A Legacy of Progress

Speaking during the reception, Mr. Nihi urged the student leaders to look beyond immediate political cycles.”We challenged this team to go beyond the surface,” Mr Nihi said. “We want them to restructure for long-term sustainability and to dominate the digital space. We are not just building a campaign; we are building a legacy of progress and unity for Kogi State and Nigeria.”The delegation included key figures from the regional student body, including Enesi Habeeb, Director General of the support group, and Adeoyo Samuel, Chairman of the NANS Joint Campus Committee (JCC) in Kogi. The launch marks a significant shift in the local political landscape, as the youth-led movement aims to bridge the gap between policy implementation and grassroots awareness. Officials described the initiative as “a movement of the people, by the youth, for the future.”
