Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has extended his heartfelt condolences on the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in London. Mr. Matawalle described Buhari’s death as a “significant loss for the nation,” particularly at a time when Nigeria could have greatly benefited from his leadership style.
In a press release, Minister Matawalle acknowledged the “important strides made in the defence sector” under Buhari’s administration, specifically in “empowering the Nigerian military to combat insecurity.”
