A brazen attack on the General Hospital in Kankara Local Government Area, Katsina State, has left a doctor injured and a hospital staff member abducted. The incident occurred on Tuesday at around 7:00 p.m. when bandits stormed the hospital premises, firing sporadically and causing widespread panic among staff and patients.
Dr. Murtala Sale Dandashire, the doctor on duty, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility. An unidentified hospital staff member was abducted by the bandits before they fled the scene.
The Katsina State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident, stating that security agencies have launched an investigation and are working to apprehend the assailants.
This attack has heightened concerns about safety in healthcare facilities across the region, particularly in Katsina State, which has experienced a surge in banditry and kidnapping in recent years.
