Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has been described as a proactive leader who came into governance well-prepared, according to his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah. Speaking on KAFTANTV’s live programme, The Polity, Mr. Isah stated that Governor Ododo’s experience serving under the previous administration in the state equipped him with the necessary knowledge to excel in his role.
Isah praised Governor Ododo’s efforts to unite the state, following a tense election period. He noted that despite criticisms, the governor has demonstrated his commitment to continuity while also introducing new policies and programmes that deviate from the past. Specifically, Isah highlighted the governor’s innovative approach to agriculture, food security, tourism, and extractive sectors.
The spokesman also emphasized Governor Ododo’s focus on developing the state’s tourism potential, citing the successful hosting of the Kogi international carnival and ongoing engagement with investors. Furthermore, Isah mentioned the governor’s efforts to modernize community cultural festivals and events, showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage.
Regarding the state’s mineral deposits, Isah explained that Governor Ododo is seeking to shift from mining solely for exports to production for local use and job creation. The governor has engaged with the federal government and investors to attract mining investments, with a focus on establishing factories and processing companies within the state.
As Governor Ododo prepares to mark his one-year anniversary in office, Isah revealed that the occasion will be an opportunity to gather feedback from the people and identify areas for improvement.
