The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has dismissed claims that the recently restarted Port Harcourt Refinery is not producing petroleum products.
In a statement, NNPC Ltd said the refinery is currently operating at 70% of its installed capacity, with plans to increase production to 90%. The refinery is producing 1.4 million litres of petrol, 900,000 litres of kerosene, 1.5 million litres of diesel, and 2.1 million litres of low pour fuel oil daily.
The company also clarified that the refinery uses a standard practice of blending to produce gasoline that meets required specifications. This involves incorporating a blending component from Indorama Petrochemicals to produce gasoline.
NNPC Ltd assured Nigerians that the new Port Harcourt Refinery will begin operations soon and urged the public to focus on the progress being made in the energy sector.
The company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, said malicious attacks on the progress made by NNPC Ltd only undermine the significant strides made by the company and the country.
