The Electoral Institute (TEI) has commenced a three-day training program for Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs) in preparation for the Ondo State Governorship Election scheduled for November 16, 2024. The training, which began on November 8, 2024, aims to equip participants with the skills to conduct polling and counting procedures effectively.
Training Objectives: Conduct polling and counting procedures- Perform electoral functions of PO/APO in line with the 2022 Guidelines and Regulations for the conduct of Elections- Familiarize trainees with INEC E-School and TRAINING Bot.
Training Focus Areas- Polling Date and Time
Code of Conduct of Electoral Officials.
Electoral Materials Sorting, Counting, and Announcement of Results, filling of form EC8A, Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), INEC Security Alert and Notification System (INEC-SANS).
National Commissioner Prof. Abdullahi Zuru emphasized the importance of transparency, honesty, and accountability in ensuring free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections.
The Director General of the Electoral Institute, Dr. Sa’ad Umar Idris, urged participants to engage with the INEC E-School and E-Bot platforms.
The training was held across the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Ondo State.
