INEC Assures of Improved Logistics, Security for Ondo Governorship Election

The Chairman of Nigeria’s Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has assured voters of improved logistics and better management for the November 16, 2024, Ondo state governorship election. With just two weeks to go, Prof. Yakubu announced that INEC will undertake a final readiness assessment, meeting with officials, stakeholders, security agencies and transport providers.

Key Improvements:

  • Enhanced Logistics: Improved movement of personnel and materials to land and riverine locations for prompt poll commencement.
  • Better Process Management: Streamlined voting to result declaration processes.
  • Voter Accreditation: Upgrades to voter accreditation and result upload to INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal.
  • Observer and Media Accreditation: Improved accreditation processes.
  • Voter Education: Ongoing efforts to educate voters.
  • Election Duty Staff Training: Hands-on training for Polling Unit officials.

Mock Accreditation and Peace Accord:

  • Mock accreditation of voters and result upload to IReV scheduled for November 6, 2024, in 12 Polling Units.
  • National Peace Committee’s Peace Accord signing on November 8, 2024, for parties and candidates.
