Israeli forces have confirmed the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in a raid in southern Gaza. Sinwar, who led Hamas since 2017, was accused of masterminding the October 7 attacks that killed 1,200 people and took 251 hostages.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, “Today, we settled the score with him.” Israel’s military reported Sinwar was among three militants killed in the operation. No hostages were found at the site.
Israel’s military identified Sinwar using dental records and fingerprints, delaying confirmation by several hours.
