The Nigerian-Canadian community has unveiled a comprehensive database system.
It is a move which aims to foster unity and empowerment.
Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, hailed the initiative, emphasizing its potential to integrate Nigerians into Canada’s political, economic, and social domains.
“This database is a pivotal step towards harnessing the collective strength of our diaspora community,” Dabiri-Erewa stated.
The database features contact details for over 85 Nigerian-led associations, spanning professional, cultural, religious, business, and student organizations.
Ambassador Obioma Nzewuji, ChargĂ© d’Affaires at the Nigeria High Commission in Ottawa, praised the initiative, citing its potential to enhance engagement between the Nigerian community, the High Commission, and local authorities.
Ako Ufodike, Deputy Minister of Multiculturalism and Immigration in Alberta, acknowledged the database’s significance in connecting newcomers with existing community resources.
