Tragedy Strikes Anambra Market as Speeding Vehicle Crashes into Stalls

A devastating incident occurred at the Oye-Agu Market in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, when a speeding Toyota Sienna vehicle lost control and rammed into the market. Eyewitnesses report that the driver’s failure to brake caused the vehicle to crush several roadside traders, resulting in an unknown number of casualties.

The incident, which happened at approximately 11:10 am on Wednesday, sent panic through the market, with rescue efforts currently underway. Injured victims are being rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to Ben Okongwu, President-General of the Abagana Community, at least three people lost their lives in the crash, including a child, while several others sustained injuries.

The Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra State has yet to confirm the incident, with spokesperson Margaret Onabe stating she is unaware of the details and promising to investigate further.

This tragic event has raised concerns about road safety and the need for caution among drivers to prevent such incidents in the future.
