TCN restores major transmission line following Lagos power disruption

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored a high-voltage transmission line serving commercial districts and residential areas across Lagos State following an early morning system failure.

The 330-kilovolt Ikeja-West/Omotosho line tripped at 12:37 AM on Tuesday, interrupting bulk power supplies to major parts of Nigeria’s commercial capital.

Technicians successfully restored the line to service at 10:14 AM, bringing bulk supply back online for both Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electric.

“Bulk power supply has been restored through the line to Eko Electricity Distribution Company and Ikeja Electric,” TCN management said in a statement, thanking affected distribution companies and customers for their patience during the disruption.

The grid operator added that it remains committed to maintaining network stability and improving nationwide bulk power transmission.
