Prominent Nigerian Evangelist Uma Ukpai Dies at 80

Abuja, Nigeria — Reverend Dr. Uma Ukpai, a prominent Nigerian evangelist and the spiritual leader of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, has died at the age of 80.

The news of his death was confirmed in a statement released by his family on Monday, who announced that he passed away on October 6, 2025.

Dr. Ukpai was widely known across Nigeria and the global Christian community as a “spiritual general,” having dedicated over six decades to evangelism, teaching, and ministry.
