The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) football team has won the 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) pre-season tournament in Abuja, emerging top out of 20 participating teams.
The team claimed the Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Mohammed trophy after beating Access FC 4–1 on penalties following a draw in the final.
The annual competition, organised by the NLO for Division One teams in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, serves as a preparatory tournament ahead of the new football season.

Receiving the squad at NYSC headquarters, Director General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu commended the players for their performance and reaffirmed the scheme’s commitment to supporting young sporting talent.
”We will help develop your skills better. Football is a profession, and NYSC is proud of you,” General Nafiu said, urging the team to maintain discipline and focus.

Team chairman Usman Yahaya thanked the leadership for its continued support, attributing the victory to the organization’s backing of youth development initiatives.
