Troops of Sector 2 under Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued 14 kidnapped victims and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and a motorcycle during clearance operations in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The military operation, conducted on Friday, 25 September 2026, was part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts targeting armed criminal networks across Nigeria’s north-western region.
Military sources disclosed that troops deployed on routine security patrols along the Faskari axis encountered a group of suspected terrorists. Leveraging superior firepower, the soldiers engaged the group and forced the armed suspects to retreat into surrounding terrain.
Subsequent search operations in the area led to the rescue of 14 hostages—comprising 12 males and two females—who had been abducted from Anguwan Miko and Tafoki communities in Faskari. The rescued victims received medical treatment prior to their planned reunification with family members.
In a parallel engagement within the same corridor, troops thwarted an attempted assault by suspected militants, recovering one AK-47 assault rifle, 7.62mm ammunition, and an operational motorcycle left behind by the fleeing suspects.
The joint task force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on armed groups, dismantling kidnapping cells, and restoring security across rural communities in Katsina State.
